About The Position

Turner Industries Group is seeking an experienced HVAC Tech for a position in Painesville, OH. The HVAC Tech position assembles, installs, services, and repairs air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating units used in homes, schools, commercial, and industrial buildings. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman. Assigned duties are according to specific procedures and work is checked frequently.

Requirements

  • HVAC certification from a technical school.
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification
  • Minimum of 5 years field experience with general HVAC troubleshooting.
  • Minimum of 2 years industrial field experience
  • Experience installing/troubleshooting/repairing Roof top units (RTU's).
  • Experience installing/troubleshooting/repairing Make-up air units (MAU's).
  • Experience installing/troubleshooting/repairing Air-handler units (AHU's) with air conditioner units.
  • Experience installing/troubleshooting/repairing Heat pumps
  • Experience installing/troubleshooting/repairing Chiller Units/Systems
  • Experience with refrigeration systems.
  • Experience with HVAC controls

Responsibilities

  • Assembles, installs, services, and repairs air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating units.
  • Works within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
  • Looks at flat drawings or pictures and visualizes how they would look as solid objects with height, width, and depth.
  • Performs a variety of duties which may change often.
  • Rates information using measurable standards.
  • Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
  • Measures windows or other existing openings, or cutting through walls, using a mallet, cold chisel, or other tools to install new units.
  • Diagnoses causes of equipment breakdowns.
  • Tests parts with appropriate instruments.
  • Disassembles and assembles parts, and makes necessary repairs.
  • Drills holes to mount units and lifts parts into position.
  • Locates and marks position of pipe and/or duct connections and passage holes for same in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob.
  • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and/or duct fittings, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Cuts and threads pipe, using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine.
  • Connects motors to control panels and balances motors to ensure efficient operation.
  • Connects control panels to power source.
  • Welds holding fixtures to steel structural members.
  • Installs and maintains solar heating and cooling units.
  • Performs additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
