About The Position

The Industrial HVAC Technician will ensure the safe and efficient operation of site chillers, cooling towers, and HVAC systems chiller systems. This role involves performing routine inspections, predictive maintenance, and repairs on HVAC systems and Controls. The technician will also develop and implement preventative maintenance plans to minimize downtime and ensure the reliability of HVAC equipment, and schedule and perform maintenance activities according to established protocols. Additionally, the role requires diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical issues, malfunctions, and failures in the system, and analyzing and resolving complex problems efficiently and safely. Safety compliance is paramount, requiring adherence to all safety guidelines and regulations, including NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements. The technician will maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs, including EPA records for refrigerant leaks and equipment disposals. This position also involves being on-call for emergency HVAC repairs, analyzing problems, identifying appropriate tools and materials for repair, and following health and safety standards. The role may require working at heights, operating forklifts, and ordering materials and parts. The technician will use the current CMMS work order system and access the Building Management System to review and adjust HVAC systems. Miscellaneous job-related duties will also be assigned.

Requirements

• EPA Refrigerant Certification
• AAS degree in Mechanical or Plant Utilities Technology OR AOS degree in HVAC or Construction & Maintenance OR Military Training Course in related field OR Journeyman Credentials

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, predictive maintenance, and repairs on HVAC systems and Controls.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans to minimize downtime and ensure the reliability of HVAC equipment.
• Schedule and perform maintenance activities according to established protocols.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, malfunctions, and failures in system.
• Analyze and resolve complex problems efficiently and safely.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations while working with energized equipment.
• Ensure that safety protocols are followed by yourself and the team, including all NFPA 70E electrical safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs.
• Keep up-to-date documentation of HVAC systems, including schematics and diagrams.
• Maintain required EPA records for refrigerant leaks and equipment disposals.
• Be on-call for emergency HVAC repairs and respond promptly to minimize downtime and safety risks.
• Analyzes problem and identifies appropriate tools and materials for repair.
• Follows health and safety standards and complies with building codes.
• Work at heights in scissor lifts and boom lifts.
• Operate fork trucks for material movement and unloading of deliveries.
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Order materials and parts for job execution.
• Flex as necessary to support other trades.
• Use current CMMS work order system to process and complete job assignments and to track ordering of parts & materials.
• Access Building Management System to review HVAC systems and make changes if needed.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
