Given the sensitive nature of healthcare operations, your work will directly impact indoor air quality, temperature control, and overall facility performance—key factors in infection control, patient comfort, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC certification (e.g., EPA Section 608, NATE, or similar) required.
  • 1–3 years of hands-on experience in HVAC maintenance and repair, preferably in commercial or healthcare environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex HVAC systems, including chillers, air handlers, boilers, and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and HVAC control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team in high-pressure situations.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for off-site service calls or equipment delivery.
  • Physical ability to lift to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of HVAC systems across medical facilities.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctions in heating, cooling, refrigeration, and ventilation systems with minimal downtime.
  • Install, modify, and service duct work, piping, controls, and associated components in compliance with safety and health regulations.
  • Monitor and adjust system performance to ensure optimal indoor air quality, temperature, and humidity levels per healthcare standards.
  • Respond promptly to emergency HVAC failures, especially in critical care areas such as operating rooms, intensive care units, and laboratories.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and system performance using CMMS or facility management software.
  • Collaborate with biomedical engineers, facility managers, and contractors to coordinate complex HVAC projects and upgrades.
  • Adhere to all OSHA, EPA, and healthcare-specific safety protocols, including refrigerant handling and environmental compliance.
  • Support energy efficiency initiatives by identifying opportunities to reduce system energy consumption without compromising performance.
