About The Position

This role involves the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment within a hospital facility. The technician will perform preventive maintenance on various systems, monitor environmental conditions in critical areas, and diagnose/repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues. Responsibilities also include installation and replacement of HVAC components, managing building automation systems, maintaining refrigeration equipment, responding to emergencies, ensuring code compliance, and utilizing a CMMS for work orders. The position requires collaboration with other hospital departments, participation in an on-call rotation, and adherence to safety, infection prevention, and HIPAA policies.

Requirements

  • Experience with commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on various HVAC components.
  • Familiarity with hospital facility codes and standards (OSHA, CMS, Joint Commission).
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various hospital departments.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Knowledge of safety, infection prevention, emergency management, and security policies.
  • Understanding of HIPAA requirements and maintaining confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment throughout the facility.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on air handling units (AHUs), rooftop units, split systems, chillers, boilers, exhaust systems, pumps, cooling towers, and related mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain temperature, humidity, and ventilation requirements in patient care areas and other critical hospital spaces.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system issues and perform necessary repairs.
  • Install and replace HVAC equipment, motors, belts, bearings, filters, thermostats, dampers, and related components.
  • Monitor and maintain building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems.
  • Maintain refrigeration equipment, including ice machines, walk-in coolers, freezers, and medical refrigeration equipment as assigned.
  • Respond promptly to HVAC emergencies and service requests to minimize disruption to patient care.
  • Ensure all HVAC systems comply with applicable building codes, OSHA standards, CMS Conditions of Participation, and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and corrective work orders using the hospital's computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Assist with facility construction, renovation, and equipment installation projects.
  • Maintain inventory of HVAC parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Work collaboratively with Plant Operations staff, Environmental Services, Infection Prevention, and clinical departments during maintenance activities.
  • Participate in the Plant Operations on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
  • Follow all Forrest City Medical Center safety, infection prevention, emergency management, and security policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA requirements.
