About The Position

At Nasittuq Corporation, we take pride in delivering exemplary services in the Canadian Arctic. Our highly skilled workforce ensures the seamless operation of critical operations for the Department of National Defence (DND), ranging from facilities maintenance to logistical support. The HVAC Technician has broad responsibility to maintain and repair all HVAC equipment at CFS Alert. Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent implements a maintenance schedule, reports issues, does repairs and troubleshoots systems while observing all health and safety regulations and maintaining a positive relationship with the client.

Requirements

  • Secondary School graduation and HVAC training
  • Red Seal certification or Journey person with significant experience is required
  • ODP certification
  • Certification of levels 1 and 2 training for the Operation and Maintenance of the Jordair High pressure breathing air compressors systems recognized by Jordair Compressors Inc
  • provincially certified and hold a valid card indicating the successful completion of an environmental awareness course in recycling
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Journeyman in a commercial or industrial setting
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and components
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
  • Familiarity with HVAC codes and regulations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve system issues
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems including air compressors, air handling units, fans, heat exchangers, humidification systems, and kitchen exhaust hoods and duct systems
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Diagnose, Repair and/or replace defective parts as required
  • Conduct performance tests on systems to identify and resolve problems
  • Collaborate with other site staff and contractors to complete projects
  • Contributes to the strong positive relations between the Company and the client.
  • Accurately and fully complete all required logs, documentation and reports within time requirements.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on kitchen appliances, small kitchen appliances and/or other small appliances as assigned
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on the Jordair Compressors and Filling Station
  • Demonstrates initiative and embraces the Company’s standards for safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in safety meetings, reads safety documents (safety alerts, emergency plans, etc.) and reports all accidents, incidents, and safety concerns
  • Performs other duties/projects as assigned, to support the overall program and mission, and other initiatives of Nasittuq

  • Fly-In Fly-Out Schedule: 8 weeks on site, 8 weeks off site rotation. Travel from home to site is paid from any location in Canada, with overnight stays in Thule, Greenland, as required.
