About The Position

This position will provide general support to various services in the Community and Family Services setting of a Ministry Unit. The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties. The incumbent’s work environment is typically in an office environment. May be required to move/lift up to 30 pounds.

Requirements

  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion.
  • Completion of some high school course work is required.
  • CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.
  • One year of related experience.
  • Maintain and promote a positive image of The Salvation Army by providing a high caliber of services and dealing with others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
  • Good team player.
  • Organized and attentive to details.

Responsibilities

  • As directed, support pre-planned program activities for the community (food bank, crafts, sports, games, music, homework stations, Bible-based devotions, community church, meetings etc.)
  • Work in a team setting supporting various tasks and activities.
  • Provide general administrative support greeting visitors, supporting reception, forwarding visitors, etc.
  • Provide general assistance during public relations events and regular campaigns.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all matters pertaining to the program participants.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures relating to the programs.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
