Department: CC018300 Plant Engineering Job Description Summary: Position Responsibilities Maintains, tests, repairs and modifies heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration and related temperature controls and equipment throughout the facility. Operates and maintains automated building and equipment control systems. Performs other routine to complex maintenance functions in the areas of checks, repairs, and/or replaces valves, motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring, fans, pumps, compressors, condensers, coils, pipes, and other functional components of the system. Operates, monitors, and performs preventive maintenance on boilers and auxiliaries. Maintains specified pressures and temperatures, and inspects the equipment for malfunctions and makes adjustments or repairs. Conducts and supervises airflow and balancing tests. Repairs/installs equipment such as: refrigerators and freezers of all types. Ice making machines, water coolers, compressed air dryers, medical gas outlets using all hand and power tools and gas welding and cutting equipment normally associated with the trade. Assists as necessary with monitoring utility systems to ensure full and efficient operations. Assists in department deep maintenance, refreshing, and modification projects. Conducts routine to specialized preventive maintenance and performs routine to specialized equipment safety checks. Knowledgeable of all tools required for maintenance: tape measure, knife, saws, trowels, caulk guns, brushes, hand tools, electrical meter, toilet and sink auger, drills, sanders, ladders, etc. Coordinates and advises other departments, contractors, and staff for department projects and maintenance. Provides direction to outside contractors on critical mechanical and electrical equipment, finishes, and systems. Verifies repairs and service are complete and satisfactory. Reports unsafe conditions to department leadership in all cases. Knowledgeable of support resources.

Requirements

  • Current CFC (Chlorofluorocarbons) certification or obtained within the first 120 days of employment.
  • Certified by an Environmental Protection Agency approved technician certification program.
  • Knowledge of HVAC Technology, equivalent to that which would be acquired by completing a regionally accredited trade program.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform this job are typically acquired through a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and healthcare facilities maintenance.
