About The Position

The Licensed HVAC/Mechanical Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and efficiency of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and mechanical systems across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This position requires diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining HVAC and mechanical equipment to meet regulatory standards and client expectations. The technician will collaborate closely with clients and team members to provide expert advice, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement effective solutions. A strong emphasis is placed on adherence to safety protocols, quality workmanship, and timely service delivery to minimize downtime and enhance system longevity. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to creating comfortable, safe, and energy-efficient environments for customers throughout the United States.

Requirements

  • Valid HVAC or Mechanical Technician license as required by the state of employment.
  • Hold and maintain an active Oklahoma Mechanical Journeyman or Contractor License issued by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board (CIB).
  • Complete and maintain required continuing education (CE) credits and meet the hospital’s licensing requirements.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited HVAC or mechanical trade program.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, refrigeration cycles, and mechanical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Proficiency in reading technical documentation and blueprints is essential for proper installation and troubleshooting.
  • Electrical knowledge supports the technician in handling wiring and control systems integral to HVAC equipment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills are vital for explaining technical issues clearly to clients and fostering trust during service interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with energy-efficient and green HVAC technologies.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification for handling refrigerants.
  • Additional certifications such as NATE (North American Technician Excellence) or OSHA safety training.
  • Strong customer service skills and experience working in a client-facing role.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and mechanical systems including air conditioners, furnaces, boilers, ventilation units, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Conduct thorough diagnostics to identify mechanical and electrical faults using specialized tools and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards and environmental guidelines.
  • Provide clear communication to clients regarding system status, repair options, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate service records, prepare reports, and manage inventory of parts and tools.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and project managers to complete large-scale mechanical projects efficiently.
  • Respond promptly to emergency service calls and provide effective solutions to minimize system downtime.
