About The Position

PRIDE Industries is a fast-paced company with a mission: To Create Jobs for People with Disabilities while providing high quality, value-added solutions to our nationwide customers. This position is on a federal AbilityOne contract that requires that most of the work hours are performed by employees with disabilities. Due to program requirements, this particular position needs to be filled by a person with a disability. Under general supervision, The HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) II technician performs skilled technical work in the maintenance, repair, replacement, and installation of HVAC/R equipment to include: furnaces, chillers, heat pumps, package units, split systems, controls and distribution systems, and tasks related to installing, maintaining and repairing boilers, power plants, and stationary engines.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and understanding of Energy Management Controls Systems
  • Three to five years of field experience servicing HVAC equipment
  • Able to use industry hand and machine tools (i.e. vacuum pumps)
  • Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, schematics and written instructions
  • Proficient in electrical trouble shooting
  • EPA Certification R410A Safety
  • Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains various mechanical and HVAC equipment.
  • Cuts and bends tubing to correct length and shape.
  • Utilizes skills in plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to ensure proper operation.
  • Tests joints and connections for gas leaks.
  • Wraps pipes in insulation batting and secures them in place.
  • Replaces defective controls, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units.
  • Tends to or fires one or more boilers to produce steam or high-temperature water.
  • Observes and interprets readings and gauges, meters and charts which register various aspects of boiler operation.
  • Adjusts controls to ensure safe and efficient boiler operation and to meet demands for steam or high-temperature water.
  • Maintains and records boiler maintenance and operation log.
  • Cleans, oils, makes minor repairs, or assists in the repair to boiler room equipment.
  • Follows prescribed methods to treat boiler water with chemicals.
  • Follows prescribed methods to analyze boiler water for acidity, causticity and alkalinity.
  • Responds to emergency calls after normal work hours.
  • Frequent travel between facilities is required.
  • Ensures PRIDE safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
