HVAC Service Technician
About The Position
TRS Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. is a growing, local, family-owned and operated HVACR company seeking a skilled Service Technician. The Service Technician reports directly to the Service Manager and is responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing HVACR equipment for residential and light commercial customers. This role is ideal for someone with solid hands-on experience who wishes to continue developing their skills with a company that prioritizes training. The position requires a customer-focused individual who is dependable, tactful, and can take initiative, with strong communication skills for interacting with diverse customers and internal teams. The technician will expand their expertise into boilers, generators, fireplaces, and tankless water heaters with training and support.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of HVACR experience in service and/or installation.
- Strong verbal, reading, and communication skills; able to follow manufacturer instructions and interact professionally with customers, suppliers, and coworkers.
- Basic computer skills.
- Physically capable of performing all duties in varying conditions, including extreme Buffalo weather.
- Commitment to ongoing learning through self-study, company training, and manufacturer workshops.
- Valid New York State driver’s license (must be able to operate company vehicles within 30 days) and insurability under TRS’s policy.
- Ability to work efficiently under time pressure, changing schedules, weather challenges, customer needs, and workload fluctuations.
Responsibilities
- Diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing HVACR equipment for residential and light commercial customers.
- Servicing and maintaining residential and light commercial HVACR equipment, including air conditioners, furnaces, and heat pumps.
- Diagnosing equipment issues and completing repairs efficiently and correctly the first time.
- Performing Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) services and installing related components.
- Expanding into boilers, generators, fireplaces, and tankless water heaters with support and training from our senior technicians.
- Identifying and generating lead referrals for the sales team.
- Completing other related tasks as assigned by the Service Manager.
