About The Position

The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for responding to service calls professionally, communicating effectively with customers about their issues and solutions, and utilizing troubleshooting guides to identify problems efficiently. This role involves ensuring system operations and safety controls are checked before leaving job sites, addressing customer concerns, and using proper tools for troubleshooting. The technician will also assist other service representatives, schedule appointments, and communicate tactfully regarding customer-caused system problems. Key responsibilities include managing priorities, completing paperwork accurately, keeping supervisors informed, and continuously updating technical knowledge through reading manuals and joining technical organizations.

Requirements

  • Able to respond to the workload of service calls in a professional manner
  • Communicates effectively with customers, regardless of their level of technical knowledge; can explain to customer the cause of their problem and the remedy; if problem has not been repaired, offers explanation of situation and recommended next steps
  • Able to follow and utilize troubleshooting guides to identify problems in a short period of time
  • Uses proper tools and instruments while troubleshooting
  • Promptly and accurately completes all required paperwork
  • Keeps technical knowledge current regarding equipment and concepts
  • Searches out and reads applicable manuals

Responsibilities

  • Consistently check system operations and safety and limit controls before leaving job locations.
  • Ensure customers’ questions/concerns have been addressed before leaving the work site.
  • Use proper tools and instruments while troubleshooting.
  • Incorporate solution techniques to assist other service representatives and help resolve issues and customer problems.
  • Schedule arrival and departure with customers.
  • Communicate tactfully to offer suggestions if system problems are caused by the customer.
  • Determine priorities based on a call schedule, respond to inadvertent interruptions, carry proper tools and materials, and schedule vehicle maintenance.
  • Promptly and accurately complete all required paperwork.
  • Keep supervisor and manager informed of new developments, changes, or customer complaints.
  • Complete service reports daily and obtain customer signature on all service reports.
  • Sign up for memberships and technical organizations to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Keep technical knowledge current regarding equipment and concepts.
  • Search out and read applicable manuals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
