About The Position

The HVAC Service Technician will test and troubleshoot AC systems, continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. This role involves working from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, fans and fan motors, and associated safety and protection devices, ensuring peak efficiency and energy conservation. The technician will also provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates, diagnose system breakdowns, locate and correct problems, connect wires to components, inspect electrical systems for hazards, and advise management of hazardous equipment. Additionally, the role includes planning, monitoring, installing, and adjusting heating and cooling equipment via an energy management system, performing installation of mechanical systems including piping and modifications to existing cooling systems, and conducting corrective and preventive maintenance on various units and systems. A strong background in HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including hands-on operating and troubleshooting experience, is essential.

Requirements

  • Ability to troubleshoot single & three phase installation
  • Ability to work with tablet, laptop, or desktop devices
  • Clean driving record (No more than 3 points in 12 months)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Able to work a flexible schedule which may include weekends
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to solve basic math problems
  • Degree or Trades School certification in related field
  • Three to five years of related experience
  • EPA 608 Certified

Responsibilities

  • Test and troubleshoot AC systems, continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Use testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes.
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, fans and fan motors, and associated safety, over current and other equipment protection devices.
  • Ensure systems operate at peak efficiency and conserve energy usage.
  • Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems and locate the cause of breakdown.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, identify hazards or defects, and adjust or repair to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Advise management of hazardous equipment.
  • Plan, monitor, install, and adjust heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment using an energy management system.
  • Perform installation of mechanical systems including piping and modifications to existing cooling systems.
  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on packaged units, split coil systems, air compressors, pumps, air handlers, and air cooled condensers.
  • Operate and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration systems.
