About The Position

An HVAC Service Technician-Level 2 provides HVAC/R services with specific responsibility for identifying repair and/or replacement needs, installing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading HVAC/R systems and equipment, and assisting other skilled trades. This role involves diagnosing problems, performing preventative maintenance, repairing systems to ensure a comfortable living/working environment, and responding to emergency situations. The technician will also provide customers with information on service agreements and comfort improvements, complete approved repairs efficiently and safely, collect payments, maintain a clean work area and service vehicle, and coordinate with dispatch. There may be opportunities to supervise others.

Requirements

  • Proficient Verbal and Written English language skills
  • Meet all qualifications and tool requirements of Level 1 (plus tools on Level 2 list)
  • Ability to learn and apply diagnostic techniques
  • Ability to troubleshoot most air conditioning and heat pump system malfunctions both residential and commercial
  • Ability to diagnose air flow problems using approved methods
  • Ability to diagnose and repair various zone systems
  • Ability to help with HVAC installations
  • Have a basic understanding of how chillers and boilers work and have the ability to make minor repairs
  • Ability to follow and carry out both written and verbal instructions in a timely manner
  • Ability to arrive on time daily
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems
  • Ability to follow controls/wiring schematic

  • Will be subject to Pre-Employment drug and alcohol tests, background investigation and/or credit check

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with supervisor and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems.
  • Inspects HVAC systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending preventative maintenance.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance to ensure ongoing functioning of HVAC systems.
  • Repairs heating and air conditioning systems and/or components for the purpose of ensuring a comfortable living/working environment.
  • Responds to emergency situations during or after hours to ensure resolution of immediate safety concerns.
  • Provide customers with information and pricing on service agreements, accessories, quality, cost and other comfort improvements.
  • Complete approved repairs, improvements, or installations within industry standard times, following proper safety procedures.
  • Collect for work performed.
  • Clean equipment and work area upon completion of work.
  • Coordinate work with dispatch.
  • Provide information required by dispatch to keep jobs organized and customers informed of progress.
  • Maintain material stock levels in service vehicle as well as keeping vehicle clean and organized.
  • Complete paperwork as required on a timely basis.
  • Perform approved repairs on a timely basis.
  • May be asked to work in other departments as needed.
  • May be asked to assume responsibility of jobs that require supervision of others.
