About The Position

The Facilities Management Department at James Madison University is accepting applications for an HVAC Repair Senior Technician. This is a day shift position with rotating on-call responsibilities.

Requirements

• Considerable demonstrated working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration and related equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to use various test instruments to troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems and to repair such systems and equipment.
• Effective organizational skills, attention to detail and a positive attitude.
• Effective skills in communicating clear and concise instructions both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to assist other technicians and also have the ability to work independently.
• Must be available for on-call/overtime.
• Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification.
• At least 19 years old.
• Valid driver's license for a minimum of 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems and related equipment.
• Completes inspection on equipment and repairs problems in timely manner.
• Documents refrigerant usage for EPA records.
• Properly installs equipment to code.
• Provides input for the replacement of HVAC and refrigeration systems, when needed.
• Performs seasonal maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems to provide reliable and efficient operation.
• Follows JMU and manufacturer’s procedures.
• Assists associates when needed.
• Assists with training of other technicians.
• Responsible for managing jobs, ordering needed parts, keeping tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Effectively manages time.
• Keeps shop, parts, materials and paperwork organized.
• Cleans and services tools and tests equipment.
