This position will be located at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Requirements

  • Up to 5 years of HVAC/R or refrigeration maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration mechanics, HVAC/R systems, and associated controls
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance blueprints, sketches, and specifications
  • Experience using hand tools, testing devices, and precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical system failures
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work outside normal schedules, including peak periods and surge requirements
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedules
  • Professional conduct and adherence to workplace safety standards
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications applicable to the position
  • Valid driver’s license when operating company vehicles is required

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, rebuilds, and operates HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration) systems and related equipment, including compressors, pumps, condensers, piping, motors, controls, and air distribution systems.
  • Performs operational testing, system adjustments, and preventive/corrective maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
  • Overhaul and rebuild refrigeration equipment, including valves, springs, couplings, piping, packing, and related components
  • Load refrigeration mediums such as Freon and ammonia into HVAC/R systems as required
  • Perform sheet metal work associated with HVAC duct systems
  • Analyze equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective actions
  • Replace mechanical and electrical components including fuses, heat elements, thermostats, and control units
  • Operate and monitor built-up air conditioning and refrigeration systems during startup, shutdown, and normal operations
  • Inspect HVAC/R systems and components to identify defects, leaks, or malfunctions
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, and maintenance documentation
  • Use hand tools, testing devices, and precision measuring instruments to perform maintenance and repairs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul HVAC/R equipment and systems
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and operational malfunctions in refrigeration and air conditioning systems
  • Perform system adjustments and operational checks to maintain proper temperatures, pressures, and airflow
  • Support safe, efficient, and reliable operation of refrigeration and HVAC systems
  • Perform work in compliance with applicable safety standards, procedures, and operational requirements
  • Provide guidance and assistance to lower-graded employees as assigned
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, performance, and customer service
