About The Position

As an HVAC-R Apprentice at Carrier Commercial Services, you will play a vital role in delivering comfort and confidence to our customers, serving as the trusted face of our brand. This position offers the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively, showcasing your ability to make sound decisions on the job while contributing to a team environment. It’s an ideal role for someone passionate about their craft and eager to elevate their skills. As an HVAC-R Apprentice, you will be working onsite at various customers in the Local 787 Union jurisdiction under supervision of a journeyperson. This position is to work with the Mississauga office, covering the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). It is mandatory to join the Local 787 Union.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Gas Fitter level 3 License
  • Valid G-Class Driver’s License
  • Current member or be able to be accepted by the Local 787-Union
  • Valid ODP
  • Apprentice Year 1, 2 or 3
  • Accepted into ORAC apprenticeship program or eligible to be accepted
  • 1+ years of working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Word, Etc.)
  • Push/pull/lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand, crawl, sit, squat of extended period of times

Responsibilities

  • Provide applied equipment service and HVAC maintenance for existing customer base
  • Handle minor repairs on applied/unitary equipment such as Chillers, Boilers, RTU, Cooling Towers, Pumps, Fans, AHU, MUA and split systems.
  • Assist Journeypersons and Apprentices with tasks and repairs as needed
  • Cleaning, repairing and routine maintenance of equipment
  • Verify completion of maintenance work orders
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards and documentation protocols
  • Delivery of parts and equipment as required
  • Maintain warehouse inventory, tools, and consumables
  • Comply with storage procedures, safety policies, and general housekeeping standards
  • Comply with Carrier Policies and Procedures
  • Comply with Environment, Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Time Management, Planning and Organizational skills
  • Interpersonal skills and team player
  • Work well under pressure to meet deadlines and customer commitments
