About The Position

We are hiring an HVAC Project Manager / Mechanical Engineer (MEP) to serve as the primary design engineer and project lead for a full-service MEP consulting engineering firm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. With over 90 years of delivering mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection solutions across K-12 and higher education, healthcare, senior living, hospitality, and recreation sectors, this firm handles 100+ projects annually. You will lead HVAC system design from concept through construction administration while managing project schedules, client relationships, and junior engineering staff.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
5–10+ years of HVAC/Mechanical Engineering experience in a consulting engineering environment
Strong experience designing HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, or industrial building types
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit; experience with HVAC load calculations and equipment sizing
Experience managing projects and serving as the primary engineering contact for clients
Experience supporting construction administration, RFIs, submittmits, and site observations
Strong written and verbal communication skills

PE license preferred but not required

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary HVAC/Mechanical Engineer and lead designer for assigned projects
Perform HVAC system design, engineering calculations, equipment selection, and construction document preparation
Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to develop and review design drawings
Coordinate with architects, owners, contractors, and internal engineering disciplines throughout project execution
Manage project schedules, deliverables, budgets, and technical quality
Participate in client meetings, design reviews, site visits, and field surveys
Review submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, and construction-related documentation
Prepare project specifications, cost estimates, and bidding documents
Support construction administration activities and resolve field issues
Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and design oversight to junior engineering staff
Ensure all designs comply with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements
