About The Position

Blue Collars Plumbing & HVAC is seeking a unique technician for their growing Columbia operation who is comfortable and capable in both HVAC and plumbing trades. This role requires the ability to diagnose and repair HVAC systems in the morning and handle plumbing service calls in the afternoon. The ideal candidate enjoys variety, is skilled in troubleshooting, and takes pride in solving problems across both disciplines. This is not a position where experience in one trade is merely a plus; proficiency in both is essential.

Requirements

  • Strong HVAC service and diagnostic experience.
  • Plumbing service experience.
  • EPA Certification.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot HVAC systems.
  • Ability to independently complete common plumbing service calls.
  • Strong electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Professional customer communication.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Dependability and accountability.
  • Experience in BOTH HVAC and plumbing is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Comfortable with residential and light commercial HVAC service, including split systems, package units, heat pumps, rooftop units, air handlers, and mini-splits.
  • Familiarity with controls and low-voltage diagnostics, airflow issues, and system diagnostics.
  • Experience with general plumbing service and repair, including water heaters, water leaks, water line repairs, faucets and fixtures, toilets, and drain/sewer issues.
  • Capability for basic piping repairs and replacements.
  • Not necessarily a master plumber, but confident running everyday plumbing service calls.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems (e.g., no-cool issues, electrical or control problems, component replacement, preventative maintenance).
  • Performing plumbing services (e.g., repairing leaking water lines, diagnosing water heaters, replacing fixtures, troubleshooting drain or plumbing issues).
  • Running both HVAC and plumbing service calls independently.
  • Communicating repair options to customers.
  • Continuing to learn and develop skills in both trades.
