About The Position

Johnson Controls, a leading provider of HVAC and building automation solutions, is seeking a skilled and experienced Operations and Maintenance Specialist to join their team. This role is part of a performance-based, 12-year O&M contract at a newly constructed electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant, focusing on maintaining MEP equipment to ensure seamless operations and uninterrupted manufacturing and administrative functions. The specialist will work in commercial, industrial, and/or institutional markets and is expected to be a skilled craftsman with at least five years of practical experience in HVAC, plumbing, pipefitting, and/or mechanical equipment service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years actual, practical working experience in the HVAC plumbing, pipefitting and/or mechanical equipment service industry.
  • Skilled craftsman in their trade.
  • May be required to pass a satisfactory examination as to special skill.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Flexibility to work on-call or during emergencies, as required.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid HVAC Mechanical Journeymen license.
  • Proven experience as an HVAC Mechanical Journeymen or in a similar role.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems in accordance with building codes and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC system malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools.
  • Conduct performance tests and adjustments on HVAC systems to meet specified requirements.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, labor hours, and work performed.
  • Collaborate with other team members and contractors to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements, regulations, and best practices through ongoing training and professional development.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing client concerns and resolving issues professionally.
