We provide factory certification through our Service Technical Academy (STA), equip you with tools and a vehicle, and aim for you to provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service related items. As a trusted advisor, you will provide solutions and outcomes at the time of service.

Requirements

  • First- or second-year apprentice, with the ability and willingness to join Local 488 if not already a member.
  • Interests in the industry servicing mechanical and Controls systems in the HVAC-R fields.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in how systems work.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior technicians.
  • Physically capable of lifting, climbing ladders, and working in varying environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent Johnson Controls to customers and other outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Self-starter with ability to eventually work independently.
  • Prioritize safety in all forms.
  • This position requires a valid Alberta driver’s license.
  • Basic understanding of tools, mechanical systems, or construction environments.
  • Ability to read simple drawings, instructions, or work orders.
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools.
  • Basic troubleshooting or problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills when working with team and customers.

Responsibilities

  • First or Second year apprentices will be trained and will perform work on HVAC mechanical equipment and controls on client sites.
  • Participate in certified trainings through Service Technical Academy that will build skill sets to provide continued opportunities for recognition, monetary rewards and advancement.
  • Through coaching and mentorship, develop skills to troubleshoot and resolve both technical issues as well as customer needs.
  • Keep JCI, contractors, and the customer advised of job progress and issues as needed.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently to include upselling opportunities.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
