About The Position

Reporting to the Regional Manager, District Energy Operations, the HVAC Mechanic will be responsible for maintenance of all building-side common area HVAC, including the execution of preventative maintenance (PM) tasks and completing repairs in-house. This full-time role follows a Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm schedule and is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and takes pride in running first-class facilities.

Requirements

  • A City of Seattle Journey Refrigeration Mechanic License.
  • A City of Seattle Grade IV Boiler Fireman License; a Grade III Steam Engineer’s license would be considered an asset.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in commercial HVAC, building automation systems (BAS), and district energy systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of air handling units, pressurization fans, DDC controls systems, VAV box systems, split systems, make up air units, and pumps.

Nice To Haves

  • A Grade III Steam Engineer’s license

Responsibilities

  • Perform quarterly inspections of HVAC equipment, including checking motor bearings, belt and blower wheel alignment, condensation drains, filter replacement, refrigerant leaks, electrical connections, and correct temperature operation.
  • Verify proper operation of all HVAC equipment after each inspection and document findings.
  • Troubleshoot and carry out in-house repairs across HVAC systems and controls; for major or complex work, source and procure parts and coordinate hands-on support from the Capilano Energy team, retaining ownership of the repair through to completion.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings, providing regular operational updates to management.
  • Coordinate work with contractors, vendors, and internal departments.
  • Work with management to develop budgets, create service contracts, issue purchase orders, and manage inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain up-to-date records, logs, and inspection reports.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and company operating standards.
