About The Position

McCormick is seeking an HVAC Mechanic for the 1st Shift at their Hunt Valley Plant. This role is responsible for the operation, repair, maintenance, and installation/inspection of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Essential functions may vary based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Commercial Mechanic for HVAC
  • CFC certification and knowledge of 3 phase power
  • Candidate must have knowledge of PM (preventative Maintenance) practices
  • Meets standards in overall performance rating in most recent performance review.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years relevant HVAC/Facilities maintenance experience
  • Ability to use all hand power tools including portable saws and masonry drills
  • Familiar with shop tools including metal cutting saws, sheet metal shears, jointers, planners, forming machines, drill press, lathes, milling machines
  • Demonstrated process improvement ability and leadership skills
  • Ability to lift 70 lbs
  • Must be able to work in cross-functional, self-directed teams
  • Must be flexible and adaptable with work schedule to support business needs
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints or PID drawings
  • Must have or the ability to obtain a forklift license along with an aerial life license

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed gas fitter preferred
  • Ability to weld, braze and use heat in straightening metal
  • Knowledge and understanding of plumbing preferred
  • Knowledge and understanding of Fire/Life/Safety systems preferred
  • Understanding of Food Plant Practices/GMPs
  • Understanding of SAP

Responsibilities

  • Understands and demonstrates knowledge of electrical, plumbing and refrigeration codes and practices, and coordinates between other trades.
  • Completes all preventative maintenance work orders as assigned performing inspections, completing all required documentation (computerized and paper) associated with performing maintenance tasks.
  • Uses the SAP CMMS software to complete work orders and requisition materials.
  • Provides specific actionable information, possesses troubleshooting skills, identifies root cause and recommends improvements on a continuous basis with cross-functional teams.
  • Maintains critical inventory needed to keep operations running, maintains and accounts for tools used.
  • Manages all filter inventory for all AHUs throughout three main sites.
