The HVAC Mechanic works under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager. Performs routine preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment and also HVAC layout, construction, modification, testing, adjustment, and calibration of HVAC equipment. Must be able and available to be on-call after hours and/or weekends. Essential Functions Performs tasks by using the standard power tools, materials, and trade codes Able to schedule, start, stop equipment, and adjust parameters to the HVAC system utilizing the energy management system. Ability to read and understand blueprints and be able to communicate verbally and in writing with fellow employees Perform other related duties incidental to the needs of the department Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and cleans: cooling towers, air compressors, air handlers, exhaust, supply fans, water pumps, direct expansion equipment, refrigeration units, and other related equipment. Keep all areas organized. Must be able to research and order HVAC equipment and supplies. Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices used in the HVAC trade Follow all proper safety procedures and use proper PPE. Must follow all OSHA and guidelines as to equipment and materials used. Possesses a sound working knowledge of HVAC to include the concepts of voltage, current, and power, and the properties and uses of electrical components, including resistors, inductors, capacitors, relays, contators, and transformers. Must be able to follow all proper procedures on Schooldude.
