The HVAC Mechanic IV installs, operates, repairs, and preventively maintains pneumatic/electric digital air conditioning (A/C) and refrigeration equipment. This role involves servicing and refurbishing all types of A/C and refrigeration equipment, including control systems connected to field devices. Responsibilities include troubleshooting field-connected devices such as unitary controllers, VAV controllers, electronic and pneumatic thermostats, and control programs related to HVAC equipment. The mechanic will repair or replace various components, troubleshoot equipment based on control sequences, overhaul compressors and condensers, and recharge refrigerants. Balancing HVAC systems, performing and overseeing HVAC construction projects using blueprints and schematics, and mentoring lower-level technicians are also key duties. The role requires entering maintenance data into the work order system, maintaining refrigerant recovery records, and providing support to other trades. Additionally, the HVAC Mechanic IV will perform lead mechanic duties, initiate material and parts purchases, and maintain shop and work areas.
