About The Position

Texas Tech Health El Paso (TTEP) is seeking an HVAC Mechanic III to inspect work for conformance to standard trade practices, and to repair, install, and maintain HVAC systems, machinery, and equipment. This role may directly supervise HVAC mechanics and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid opportunities, and all work is required to be performed onsite at TTEP. The role involves preparing and submitting work documentation, coordinating documentation prepared by assigned personnel, and working with other trades and maintenance staff to complete maintenance and installation of other building systems. The HVAC Mechanic III will coordinate the installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of building systems and associated equipment, and update and maintain mechanical systems information and schematic drawings. The position also includes performing routine maintenance and participatory work in the advanced repair of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other physical structures, as well as all preventive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment. Installation and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment such as HVAC, boilers, Metasys, controls, valves, VFD’s, etc., are key duties. The role requires monitoring and adjusting set points and operating parameters to optimize systems and equipment for energy conservation and occupant comfort. The HVAC Mechanic III will respond to and correct environmental calls such as temperature complaints/problems, perform on-call duties as required, respond to work-related radio and pager calls, and respond to emergency calls to correct or remediate problems. Active participation and completion of training, personal development, and continuing education are expected. A valid State of Texas Driver's License is required, and the individual must be listed as an approved driver. Passing an employee Criminal Background Check is mandatory. The role involves passing onto HVAC team members the instructions received from the supervisor, coordinating maintenance work assignments among staff to maintain work progress and meet schedules, checking work in progress and when finished, ensuring procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met, assuring safety and general housekeeping rules are followed, advising others on the use of tools and safety equipment, and addressing complaints and resolving problems. The individual must remain current with all licensures, certifications, and mandatory compliances and trainings, and adhere to all policies, procedures, and practices. Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six years of heating and air-conditioning experience.
  • May be required to maintain registrations, professional licenses and/or certifications to perform the duties of the position from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation or other state; willing to pursue additional certifications if necessary.
  • Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Driver's License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier.
  • Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check.
  • A specific length of training of 5 years and evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the Installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of building systems and associated equipment.
  • Updates and maintains mechanical systems information and schematic drawings.
  • Performs routine maintenance and participatory work in the advanced repair of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and other physical structures.
  • Performs all preventive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment.
  • Install and maintain mechanical systems and equipment such as HVAC, boilers, Metasys, controls, valves, VFD’s, etc.

  • Coordinates maintenance work assignments among staff to maintain work progress and meet schedules; checking work while in progress and when finished to see whether the supervisor's instructions on work sequences were followed.
  • Ensures procedures, methods and deadlines have been met; assuring safety and general housekeeping rules are followed and advise others on the use of tools and safety equipment when performing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Remains current with all licensures, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSCEP OPs, etc.).
