About The Position

This role involves supervising, inspecting, scheduling, assigning, and participating in general maintenance, construction, and HVAC/refrigeration work. The position includes performing preventive and emergency maintenance, coordinating work with other supervisors, preparing estimates, initiating requisitions, and training offender maintenance workers. Key responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and repairing ventilation and air conditioning systems, identifying maintenance risks, diagnosing faults, performing warranty services, and ensuring compliance with safety and appliance standards.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
  • Two years full-time, wage-earning experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC or refrigeration systems and equipment.
  • Must maintain valid license(s) for continued employment in position.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations preferred.
  • Experience in the installation of HVAC or refrigeration systems preferred.
  • Experience in the supervision of offenders preferred.
  • Thirty semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE) may be substituted for each year of experience on a year-for-year basis for a maximum substitution of one year or an associate's degree in HVAC or Refrigeration from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the CHEA or by the USDE or completion of a program in HVAC or Refrigeration from a trade or technical school accredited by an organization recognized by the CHEA or by the USDE or completion of a program in HVAC or Refrigeration from a U.S. military technical training school.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises, inspects, schedules, assigns, and participates in performing general maintenance, construction, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, (HVAC) and refrigeration work to include preventive and emergency maintenance.
  • Coordinates work assignments with other supervisors to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Prepares estimates of work hours, materials, and resources required for projects.
  • Initiates requisitions for materials and supplies.
  • Prepares reports and maintains records of repairs.
  • Trains and supervises offender maintenance and construction workers.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable safety rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Assists in maintaining the security of assigned offenders.
  • Install, maintain and repair ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment.
  • Identify maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
  • Cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems and performing warranty services.
  • Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently.
  • Keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
  • Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers’ requirements.
  • Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
