About The Position

Fluidics Inc., a subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., is seeking an HVAC Maintenance Technician. This role is responsible for the operation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of building-related mechanical systems. The technician will work with a multi-faceted team, performing preventative maintenance on various equipment such as Air Handlers, Fan Coil Units, Heat Pumps, Split Systems, Rooftop Units, and Exhaust Fans. Some knowledge of control systems is required, as is the ability and willingness to perform general maintenance and support other trades in a large campus environment. The job may involve lifting heavy equipment and working in extreme temperatures. The technician will respond to service calls, resolve emergency situations, and oversee assigned utility mechanics. The role also includes routine and preventive maintenance work.

Requirements

  • HVAC Trades or Trade School certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in HVAC maintenance in a commercial environment.
  • Familiarity with operation of building auxiliary systems (e.g., fire-life safety, standby emergency generators).
  • Experience and proven ability to troubleshoot a variety of Heating & Cooling systems.
  • Ability to write, execute written and oral instructions, and perform arithmetic calculations.
  • Valid driver's license and driving skills with up to a 1-1/2-ton truck.
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations.
  • Ability to safely wear a respirator, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, lift heavy objects, and perform other physically demanding tasks.
  • Safely and skillfully use all types of related hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, troubleshoot, replace, repair, and maintain all related mechanical systems and affiliated control systems supporting air handling units, rooftop units, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and communicate findings to the HVAC Lead and onsite Project Manager.
  • Use and read refrigerant gauges.
  • Use a voltmeter for troubleshooting of varying mechanical equipment/control systems.
  • Isolate, 'safe off' equipment and apply Lock Out/Tag Out systems to facilitate repairs.
  • Perform routine operation and inspection of emergency generator and associated components.
  • Keep inventory of PM materials & equipment supplies and requisition necessary materials.
  • Document findings during troubleshooting and record Sequences of Operations.
  • Inspect mechanical and electrical systems via tours and mechanical logs, operate switchgear, record inspections, and complete all necessary reports/paperwork.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, repairing or replacing door hardware, locks, and panic bars.
  • Perform any additional duties on an as-required basis within the scope of contractual obligations.
  • Complete daily work logs, maintain supplier contact information, read submeters, and document findings.
