About The Position

Fluidics Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of EMCOR Group, Inc., is a leading provider of mechanical and electrical construction and facilities services. This role is responsible for the operation, some replacement, repair, and maintenance of building-related mechanical systems within a large campus environment, working with a multi-faceted team. The position involves performing preventative maintenance on various equipment, having some knowledge of control systems, and willingness to perform general maintenance and support other trades. Work may involve lifting heavy equipment and can be performed in extreme temperatures. The technician will respond to service calls, resolve emergency situations, and oversee assigned utility mechanics' work.

Requirements

  • HVAC Trades or Trade School certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in HVAC maintenance in a commercial environment.
  • Familiarity with operation of building auxiliary systems i.e. fire-life safety, and standby emergency generators.
  • Experience & proven ability to troubleshoot a variety Heating & Cooling system.
  • Ability to write, execute written and oral instructions and perform arithmetic calculations.
  • Valid driver’s license as required to drive any vehicles which may be assigned along with Driving skills with up to 1-1/2-ton truck.
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices and procedures typical for maintenance operations.
  • Ability to safely wear a respirator, climb ladders, enter confined spaces, lift heavy objects and perform other physically demanding tasks.
  • Safely and skillfully use all types of related hand and power tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Some knowledge of control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, troubleshoot, (some) replacement, repair, and maintain all related mechanical systems and affiliated control systems supporting air handling units, rooftop units, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, motors, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and communicate findings to HVAC Lead & onsite Project Manager.
  • Use and read refrigerant gauges.
  • Read a voltmeter for troubleshooting of varying mechanical equipment / control systems.
  • Isolate, “safe off” equipment and apply Lock Out / Tag Out systems to facilitate repairs.
  • Perform routine operation and inspection of emergency generator and associated components.
  • Keep inventory of PM materials & equipment supplies.
  • Requisition necessary material to complete required repairs.
  • Document findings when troubleshooting as well as Sequences of Operations.
  • Inspect mechanical, electrical systems via tours & mechanical logs, operate switchgear, record inspections, and complete all necessary reports / paperwork.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, repairing or replacing door hardware, locks, panic bars etc.
  • Perform any additional duties on an as “required” basis where such duties are within the scope of contractual obligations.
  • Complete daily work log, maintain important supplier contact information, read submeters, document findings, such as, Sequences of Operations.
