About The Position

This position is responsible for the proper operation of mechanical systems and equipment. These systems are life support systems or essential utilities, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning, critical and commercial refrigeration, special ventilation hoods, terminal and control equipment, pneumatic, automated building systems and direct digital controls. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED/Equivalent (required)
  • 0 - 1 year commercial/industrial HVAC and Refrigeration (required)
  • Current Valid Driver’s License must be maintained (required)
  • Basic work knowledge of computers (email)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret common and industry-related documents.
  • Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients, families, UofL staff and the general public.
  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deliver successful results.

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC apprenticeship or 2 years associate degree (preferred)
  • 1 – 2 years commercial/industrial HVAC and Refrigeration (preferred)
  • HVAC Journeyman (preferred)
  • EPA Technician (preferred)
  • Specialized programs (data-based work order management system)
  • Energy Management System
  • Must have the capacity to learn other relevant systems and databases, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, troubleshoots and customizes the HVAC Energy Management System to optimize energy savings.
  • Completes inspections and repairs of all mechanical and refrigeration equipment according to established procedures, lowering equipment downtime and repair costs utilizing a maintenance schedule.
  • Completes required documentation in reference to all equipment, mechanical and refrigeration systems as required by federal, state and regulatory agencies.
  • Assists other skilled workers and performs general maintenance work as needed.
  • Responsible for corrective and preventive maintenance of all assigned equipment utilizing a data-based work order management system.
  • Responsible for maintaining parts, materials, and supplies to perform daily job functions.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
