About The Position

This is a part-time, evening position at Mayland Community College's Main Campus, requiring approximately six hours per week for about 16 weeks (4 months) annually. The role involves teaching adult students content focused on HVAC within construction trades, emphasizing safety practices, procedures, and standards. The instructor will also be responsible for developing and implementing an instructional plan, setting up an HVAC lab, creating curriculum-based projects, and performing routine maintenance of equipment. Additionally, the position includes managing inventory, assisting with establishing observational experiences and work-based learning sites, recruiting students, and maintaining accurate class paperwork.

Requirements

High School Diploma
Five (5) years of work-related experience in HVAC.
Ability to read blueprints and detailed drawings.
Ability to read and utilize various measuring and construction tools.

Responsibilities

Teach adult students content focused upon HVAC within construction trades.
Instruct and demonstrate safety practices, procedures, and standards.
Conduct assessments and evaluations to measure the effectiveness of training programs.
Develop and implement an instructional plan and set up an HVAC instructional lab area.
Create and plan effective curriculum-based projects and activities.
Build positive relationships with students.
Perform routine maintenance of equipment and tools used in the program.
Manage inventory control including working with the Dean of Continuing Education, Mitchell County to purchase materials, supplies, equipment, and tools.
Assist with establishing observational experiences, work-based learning sites, and apprenticeship partners.
Maintain and accurately complete class paperwork.
Submit rosters on time.
Actively recruit students.
Maintain and exhibit a professional appearance and attitude.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
