About The Position

Black & McDonald’s Service team in Ottawa is growing! If you are an independent, enthusiastic, and driven professional searching for an opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. The Installation Technician will assist with the overall project performance all while maintaining excellent relationships with all parties involved (trades, subcontractors, consultants, and clients). The Technician will work closely with the assigned project manager by informing them of job progress and schedule updates. The Technician would be required to join or be a member of local 787 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning UA.

Requirements

  • 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic License.
  • G1 – Gas Technician Certificate TSSA.
  • ODP – Ozone Depletion License.
  • TSSA Brazing Certificate.
  • 5+ years of experience in installation, servicing, and troubleshooting diverse HVAC equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional Installation Certificates: 636 Venting.
  • Gastite.
  • Equipment manufacturer certificate.
  • Completion of safety training is an asset (i.e. working at heights)

Responsibilities

  • Installation HVAC technician duties (Commissioning, and Troubleshooting).
  • Ability to understand project documents (drawings, specifications, etc.).
  • Ability to install various HVAC appliances including but not limited to the following: Refrigeration piping as per TSSA Brazing requirements.
  • Installation of various piping designs for appliances such as Chillers, boilers, hydronic coils, fan assemblies, and heat exchangers.
  • Complete control wiring as per manufacturer requirements.
  • Maintain clean, organized working environments.
  • Installation of Unit heaters, Furnaces, Rooftops, MUA, AHU, Ductless systems, VRF, Split systems and Boilers.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, consultants, and sub-trades.
  • Perform site activities such as equipment start-ups, system balancing, functional testing, and training.
