About The Position

United Mechanical, a Fidelity Building Services Group company, is seeking an HVAC Install Technician to join our growing team in Southwest Florida. This is an opportunity for an HVAC professional who takes pride in quality workmanship and wants to work on more than just routine service calls. Our installation teams support commercial, industrial, healthcare, institutional, government, and other major projects throughout Southwest Florida. You will work alongside experienced mechanics, foremen, project managers, engineers, and other skilled trades to install and complete HVAC and mechanical systems safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications. United Mechanical handles projects ranging from new construction and renovations to major equipment replacements and complex mechanical system installations. Depending on your experience, you may have the opportunity to work with equipment including rooftop units, air handlers, chillers, boilers, pumps, split systems, VAV systems, cooling towers, duct systems, piping, and associated controls.

Requirements

  • Previous experience installing HVAC systems in commercial, industrial, institutional, or residential environments.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, fittings, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and installation plans.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools used in HVAC installation.
  • Ability to perform basic brazing, soldering, piping, or sheet metal work.
  • Experience working safely around heavy equipment and on active construction sites.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to continue learning.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team.
  • Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Professional attitude and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work from ladders, lifts, rooftops, mechanical rooms, and other jobsite environments.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Candidates must be willing to meet applicable background, drug-testing, driving-record, and jobsite credentialing requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial HVAC experience is preferred, but we are open to candidates with strong residential installation, mechanical, sheet metal, pipefitting, refrigeration, or related trade experience who are looking to advance into larger commercial and industrial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Install commercial and industrial HVAC equipment and mechanical systems according to plans, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Assist with the installation, replacement, and startup of HVAC equipment including air handlers, rooftop units, chillers, boilers, pumps, split systems, VAV systems, and related equipment.
  • Install and connect ductwork, piping, insulation, supports, equipment, and associated components.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, equipment schedules, and installation specifications.
  • Assist with equipment rigging, setting, alignment, and installation.
  • Perform brazing, soldering, piping, fittings, and other mechanical installation tasks as required by the project.
  • Work with sheet metal, pipe, duct systems, and other mechanical components.
  • Assist with system startup, testing, balancing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinate with foremen, project managers, engineers, sheet metal personnel, pipefitters, electricians, controls technicians, and other trades to keep projects moving.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the project.
  • Properly use hand tools, power tools, test equipment, PPE, and other equipment required for HVAC installation.
  • Follow all company, project, OSHA, and jobsite safety requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, customers, general contractors, and other trades.
  • Complete work in accordance with United Mechanical's quality standards and project schedules.
  • Perform other duties related to HVAC and mechanical installation as assigned.
