About The Position

Masters Mechanical is seeking a motivated HVAC Install Apprentice to join our growing installation team in Newport News, VA. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the commercial HVAC industry while learning alongside experienced mechanics and installers. As an HVAC Install Apprentice, you'll assist with the installation, replacement, and retrofit of commercial HVAC equipment while developing the technical skills needed to become a skilled HVAC Installer. We are looking for dependable individuals who enjoy hands-on work, take pride in learning a trade, and are committed to working safely every day.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude and a strong desire to learn the HVAC trade
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physically demanding work
  • Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights when required
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from lifts, and work at heights.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous construction, mechanical, warehouse, maintenance, sheet metal, plumbing, electrical, automotive, or military experience is a plus
  • Previous commercial or residential HVAC experience
  • Trade school or vocational HVAC education
  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • EPA Section 608 Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Experience using hand and power tools

Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced HVAC Installers with the installation of commercial HVAC equipment and systems
  • Help install rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, package units, ductwork, piping, and associated mechanical components
  • Load, unload, and organize tools, equipment, and materials at job sites
  • Learn to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, and installation specifications
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and other construction equipment
  • Assist with equipment startup, testing, and quality checks
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements
  • Attend company training and actively develop technical skills
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the installation team
