Service Technician Job Summary: Perform HVAC equipment maintenance: Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring. Independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, piping, and brazing of intermediate and advanced Category I, II, and III equipment. Equipment responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following (Category I): Water-cooled single and double stage centrifugal chillers up to 200-2,700 tons Screw chillers up to 400 tons Air-cooled chillers up to 530 tons Centrifugal screw Templifier heat pumps 100-700 ton magnetic drive chillers. Overview of Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned: Perform warranty service: Independently inspect and test systems to verify functionality of all Category I, II, and III equipment. Perform start-ups: Verify functionality of new Category I, II, and III equipment. Inform customers of proper equipment usage, maintenance schedule, and owner's manual. Overhauls and Retrofits: Lead the overhaul and retrofit of a Category I, II, and III unit. Lead technicians of Level I and II by demonstrating necessary steps. Perform overhaul of centrifugal equipment. Job Site Safety: Wear personal protective equipment when performing service tasks. Perform job site hazard assessment before starting service. Comply with Daikin Applied and customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines. Customer Service: Demonstrate professionalism in appearance and verbal and written communication. Interact with the customer by providing service status reports before, during, and after each call. Explain technical information to both informed and uninformed audiences. Sales Support: Communicate potential sales opportunities to sales personnel via the technician quote process. Identify and present minor repair opportunities directly to the customer. Lead Technician Training: Responsible for mentoring Level I and II service technicians and hands-on training related to Category I, II, and III equipment. Performance Documentation: Record and perform billing, inventory, timekeeping, technician quote reports, product quality reports, and items as needed. Computer Utilization: Basic data entry and ability to navigate the use of email, internet, and word processing programs. Download programs into Category I-II equipment and microcontrollers. Analyze chiller trend data to ensure optimal performance. Compliance: Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and clean workplace maintenance are adhered to at all times.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a technical and trade school with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and five (5) years of related experience in a progressively responsible position, or seven (7) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver's license, G 1 gas license required, EPA approved universal technician certification, other licenses as required.
