The Department of Emergency & Military Affairs (DEMA), led by the Adjutant General, provides emergency management and military capabilities to the citizens of Arizona and the nation. The Emergency Management Division consists of three sections—Operations, Preparedness, and Financial Administration. Each section works collaboratively across the agency and with external partners to manage emergency responses and reduce the impacts of disasters. Additionally, DEMA is the headquarters for the Arizona National Guard, the primary combat reserve of the United States Military. The Arizona Army and Air National Guard provide military forces and equipment to accomplish community, state, and federal missions. The HVAC/EMS Mechanic is responsible for responding to and resolving all Energy Management and HVAC issues and concerns for all 162d Morris Air National Guard managed spaces located in Tucson AZ. The role operates under the general direction of the Physical Plant Supervisor, performing Journeyman Level work in the Operation, Maintenance & Repair of Large Modern HVAC, Refrigeration, Heating Systems and Equipment. The incumbent ensures all work complies with state and federal codes, adheres to established safety rules/procedures, and takes immediate action in emergency situations, reporting on corrective actions. The role requires callback response to facilities after-hours/emergency help desk and oversight of repair work as necessary. The incumbent actively participates in promoting a continuous improvement workplace culture through teamwork, root cause problem solving, standard operating procedures, and review of performance metrics.
