About The Position

The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. The department has approximately 250 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges. The HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) Control Technician uses knowledge of air conditioning principles, HVAC equipment, and pneumatic and electrical/electronic/DDC controls to perform skilled work. This position performs “hands on” preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting. Work performed includes, but is not limited to, replacing broken or worn parts, evaluating replacement alternatives, equipment set-ups, equipment alignment/calibration and maintaining appropriate state licenses. Equipment includes but is not limited to industrial/commercial/domestic HVAC and refrigeration equipment, motors, audio visual equipment, scoreboards, lighting systems, pumps, compressors, boilers, card access systems, building alarm and DDC control systems. This position will provide event support for athletic and non-athletic activities/events. Event Support will include scheduling building automation equipment and repairing equipment, in addition to miscellaneous tasks required during the course of an event. The HVAC control technician shift is typically Sunday thru Thursday. The purpose of this job is to maintain the Athletic Facilities Systems Equipment and support large Athletic Events. The Athletic Facilities Department believes that each employee makes a significant contribution to our success. That contribution should not be limited by the assigned responsibilities. Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the university, Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school (two year program) in heating and air-conditioning and two years of full-time experience installing, altering, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining HVAC control systems and performing corrective and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.

Nice To Haves

  • A current State of Oregon Limited Energy Technician Class B License.
  • Experience with Siemens Building Automation Software.
  • Experience with Daikin Heat pumps.
  • Experience with Variable Refrigerant Flow heat pumps.
  • Completion of an approved Industrial HVAC mechanic apprenticeship.
  • HVAC certificate or associate's degree program.
  • CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) experience.
  • Experience serving the needs of diverse populations.

Responsibilities
