HVAC Chiller Mechanic
About The Position
An immediate opportunity for a skilled HVAC journeyman chiller mechanic supporting commercial and industrial refrigeration systems in Salt Lake City. The role involves troubleshooting complex mechanical systems, maintaining facility performance, and upholding safety and efficiency standards. The first-year salary is $60,000–$100,000, depending on experience (DOE), with career growth opportunities. The mechanic maintains and repairs air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems, manages chiller and building automation system (BAS) integration, and maintains boilers, pumps, and auxiliary equipment. The role also includes providing technical support and mentoring junior technicians. Veterans are encouraged to apply, and military training in relevant technical fields is highly desired.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of mechanical troubleshooting experience in the HVAC/R industry.
- Deep familiarity with water chillers and refrigeration.
- Strong attention to detail and technical communication skills.
- Commitment to safety.
Nice To Haves
- Universal EPA license preferred.
- Military training in relevant technical fields is highly desired; veterans are encouraged to apply.
- Relevant military specialties include Nuclear Machinist’s Mate, Machinist’s Mate, HVAC/R, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician, Power Generation Equipment Repairer, Aerospace Propulsion, Utilities Equipment Repairer, and Tactical Power Generation Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and advanced maintenance on air-cooled and water-cooled chiller systems.
- Diagnose and repair complex malfunctions using refrigeration principles and electrical schematics.
- Manage chiller/BAS integration and overall system performance.
- Maintain boilers, pumps, and auxiliary equipment.
- Provide technical support and mentor junior technicians.
- Maintain high standards of documentation and project safety.
- Resolve complex chiller issues efficiently while maintaining optimal energy performance.
