About The Position

The Orange County Social Services Department has an opening for a Human Services Supervisor I. An employee of this class is primarily responsible for managing a work unit in one program area while supervising the work of Human Services Coordinators, Human Services Specialists and Human Services Technicians. Supervision responsibilities include overseeing application processing, determination and re-determination of eligibility for one public assistance program. This position is responsible for managing staff working in Employment Services. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Human Services Supervisor II with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work and in making decisions regarding client/family needs and requests. Supervision is a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required. This position will be located at the Drakeford in Carrboro. Hiring range is based on the Orange County Social Services Step Plan. The Step Plan is based on years of Human Services Supervisor I experience. Full credit is given for years of experience performing the same job functions. Partial credit is given for years of experience performing related job functions. The top half of the scale is reserved for career employees with senior level experience in the same role. Background check and SBI background check with fingerprinting is required. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in Social Work or other human services related field AND one (1) year of related experience in social services programs; OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or other human services related field AND three (3) years of related experience in social services programs; OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background check and SBI background check with fingerprinting is required.
  • All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of a background check.
  • Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.
  • Candidates for employment may be required to undergo fingerprinting and a criminal history background check based on the job responsibilities of the position.
  • Satisfactory verification of your eligibility for employment.
  • Successful completion of the required pre-employment testing and/or screening, including drug testing when required.
  • Submission and approval of all new hire documentation completion of your new hire paperwork.
