About The Position

The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is seeking a motivated and talented individual for a Human Services Coordinator Supervisor (HSC II) position in the Springfield/Westfield Area Office located in Springfield. The Human Service Coordinator Supervisor will work with assigned staff and the Area Office Supervisory Team to build respectful and collaborative partnerships with individuals, families, guardians, provider agencies and other stakeholder groups involving the work of the Area Office and Department. The Human Service Coordinator II provides direct supervision, support, consultation, and orientation to assigned Human Service Coordinator I’s and other staff. The HSC II is considered a critical and integral member of the Area Office supervisory team in planning and resource allocation activity involving community services.

Requirements

  • At least four (4) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, case management or clinical/therapeutic experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
  • Based on assignment, travel may be required.
  • Incumbents who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid motor vehicle driver's license at a class level specific to assignment.
  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.
  • Based on assignment as Qualified Intellectual Disabled Professionals, within the Department of Developmental Services, a Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, education of the physically or emotionally handicapped, education of the multiple handicapped, education of the learning disabled, human services, rehabilitation, rehabilitation counseling, nursing, recreation therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, music therapy, physical education or other a related field is required.
  • Based on assignment as a Mental Health Case Manager or Forensic Transition Team Coordinator, within the Department of Mental Health, a Bachelor's degree or higher in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, education of the physically or emotionally handicapped, education of the multiple handicapped, education of the learning disabled, human services, rehabilitation counseling, education or other a related field is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain records and work within HCSIS, PAM and The Hub.
  • Provide monitoring, review and supervision of ISP development and approval (including ensuring that ISP content accurately reflects all services and other expenditures in the individuals' budget).
  • Assign individuals to Service Coordinators.
  • Participate in screening, interviewing and selection of candidates for HSC positions.
  • Train new Service Coordinators in job duties.
  • Conduct EPRS for HSC staff.
  • Participate in area planning and protocol development.
  • Work as a member of MASSCAP team for determination of prioritization of services and conduct MASSCAP assessments.
