About The Position

The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for the administration of employee benefits, personnel actions, coordination with Payroll, recruitment, and providing support of day-to-day human resource operations. This position also supervises the receptionist and oversees front desk responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Two years of human resources or related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Administers company benefits, including entering employee eligibility and termination in various benefit systems, entering data in the payroll system, and providing billing information to finance for payment. Answers employee questions regarding their benefits.
  • Coordinates recruitment activities, including revising job descriptions, maintaining recruitment files, placing advertisements, providing applicant lists to hiring managers, and conducting reference checks. Closes out recruitments by notifying all candidates.
  • Supervises the front desk, including the Receptionist and temporary employees. Ensures the front desk follows all procedures, including handling payments, receiving and forwarding mail, receiving calls, greeting visitors, and maintaining office supplies.
  • Prepares personnel actions for signature.
  • Provides new employee onboarding and orientation, including introductions to the payroll system, policy information, and an overview of benefit programs.
  • Administers the Drug Testing Program.
  • Maintains complete, current, and confidential personnel files for all employees, including all required information such as personnel actions, job descriptions, and evaluations. Uploads documents to the online human resources system and notifies payroll of actions.
  • Assists with annual performance evaluations by working with supervisors and managers to ensure annual performance reviews are conducted for each employee.
  • Assists employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of the Human Resources Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Responds to reference checks from outside employers and verifications of employment.
  • Assists the payroll function by gathering necessary documents to complete payroll.
  • Conducts exit interviews for employees, provides notification of federal Temporary Continuation of Coverage (COBRA) rights, and processes necessary paperwork for terminations and resignations.
  • Compiles employment statistics as needed for reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
