We are growing - and we're looking for a driven, relationship-focused Human Resources Recruiter Specialist to help us attract and retain the kind of talent that moves our mission forward. This is an on-site role, primarily based in our Amityville office, and it's built for someone who understands that recruiting is part strategy, part marketing, part relationship-building - and all about follow-through.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field preferred - or 1-2 years of recruiting in HR required.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and compliant hiring practices.
  • Strong communicator who can build trust and rapport quickly.
  • Detail-oriented and organized - you track what others forget.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Reliable daily access to your own vehicle and a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work on-site and adjust schedule for job fairs or hiring events as needed.
  • This position includes prolonged computer use; repetitive hand and wrist movement; walking and standing at recruiting events; climbing stairs; bending, reaching, and carrying materials; and driving as part of work responsibilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nonprofit or social services is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full recruitment lifecycle - from job posting to onboarding - and help shape how candidates experience Hope For Youth.
  • Create and manage job postings across platforms - job boards, social media, our website, and recruiting events.
  • Partner with program leaders to understand staffing needs and hiring priorities.
  • Keep job descriptions accurate, compliant, and aligned with real operational demands.
  • Screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and guide managers through structured, compliant hiring practices.
  • Use applicant tracking systems and data to monitor progress and improve outcomes.
  • Support offer processes, background checks, and onboarding logistics.
  • Help new hires feel welcomed and connected from day one.
  • Ensure recruiting practices align with employment laws and agency policy.
  • Build community connections and talent pipelines that support long-term workforce growth.
