About The Position

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the primary responsibility of this position is to ensure technical support for recruitment, hiring and onboarding processes; oversee the maintenance of file, data and records management systems (hardcopy and electronic); assist with processing complex inquiries, writing letters of employment, processing performance reviews; and ensuring TH employee compliance with workplace policies, procedures and practices. This position provides overall records management and clerical assistance to the HR Department such as, tracking activities, updating forms, and maintaining accurate records. The position will participate in employment processes in accordance with TH policies and procedures, to ensure the timely recruitment and hiring of highly competent jëje-in. The incumbent will effectively develop and implement orientation programs and cultural awareness training for new and existing jëje-in, enabling the hiring department to meet the goals and objectives of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Government. This position will support employee training processes and will lead government-wide employee engagement and appreciation initiatives that aim to encourage job satisfaction and enhance well-being and productivity within the workplace. An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Diploma / Certificate in HR Management, Office Administration, or a similar discipline, combined with relevant certifications and experience working in the administration of human resources processes and procedures. An equivalent combination of education, knowledge, skills and experience may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge and / or experience in human resource operations / management principles and practices including: recruitment and selection, hiring and onboarding, performance management, employee relations, job analysis and evaluation, training and development, employment equity, pay and benefits management, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Relevant experience researching and analyzing information / data related to HR management.
  • Relevant experience utilizing spreadsheets, databases, and data management systems to organize and summarize large amounts of detailed information.
  • Experience utilizing Human Resources Information Management Systems.
  • Good working knowledge of Labour Standards, including the Canada Labour Code, as well as the Federal and Yukon Human Rights Acts and related regulations.
  • Must be able to communicate the importance and maintain a high level of strict confidentiality.
  • Effective communication skills – verbal, written, non-verbal (body language), presentations.
