About The Position

Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company with over 100 years of history, recognized as one of the world's largest woven textile mills. The company designs and manufactures fabrics for various clients in the furniture, fabric distribution, and retail sectors. The Human Resource Manager will provide on-site support for HR functions, focusing on recruitment, retention, and employee relations for the company's manufacturing associates.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is required.
  • 2+ years of Human Resources experience required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Attention to detail, good judgment, and the ability to collaborate with others.
  • Must be reliable and able to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate's degree, a bachelor's Degree, or an HR certification is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Hmong preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit qualified applicants, conduct initial interviews, schedule department interviews, and administer pre-employment testing.
  • Complete background checks and finalize new hire paperwork in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Partner with management to address and resolve employee relations issues, including conducting investigations.
  • Propose new approaches, policies, and procedures to drive continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a resource for associates regarding the employee handbook, benefits, and other HR-related inquiries.
  • Assist management in monitoring labor, attendance, absenteeism, and turnover.
  • Collaborate with plant management to manage, monitor, and control plant-wide safety initiatives.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of special events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed by management.
  • Safely perform all duties following established guidelines.
  • Report all job-related injuries and safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
  • Actively participate in safety programs focused on identifying, investigating, and correcting safety hazards.
  • Wear ear protection in high-noise areas.
