About The Position

The Human Resources Manager leads all core HR functions for a single-site medical device manufacturing facility, serving as a hands-on, stand-alone HR professional. This role manages full-cycle recruiting, employee relations, benefits, compliance, leave administration, training and development, safety and environmental health programs, and culture initiatives. The position offers high visibility with executive leadership and is ideal for an experienced HR Generalist or HR Business Partner ready to step into a management-level role within a stable, specialized organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of Human Resources experience in a generalist or broad HR capacity.
  • Strong in employee relations, including conflict resolution, counseling, and coaching.
  • Experience in recruiting and talent acquisition, including full-cycle hiring processes.
  • Proficiency in benefits administration, including enrollment, billing, and employee support.
  • Experience managing leaves of absence, including FMLA and CFRA, and coordinating workers' compensation.
  • Solid understanding of HR compliance requirements at the federal and California state levels.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS systems, HR administration, and maintaining accurate HR records.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or industrial environments and understanding related HR and safety considerations.
  • Comfort working as a stand-alone HR professional responsible for all core HR functions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to influence employees and leadership, providing guidance and gaining buy-in on HR initiatives and policies.
  • Demonstrated experience in performance management and supporting managers with feedback and development.
  • Human resource management and human resource generalist experience covering multiple HR disciplines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus and can enhance communication with a diverse workforce.
  • Experience overseeing Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs is a plus.
  • Experience in training and development, including designing and delivering employee training programs.
  • Experience in safety, OSHA reporting, and compliance within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously in a dynamic, hands-on role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, interviewing, candidate evaluations, offers, onboarding, and offboarding for all roles within the organization.
  • Coordinate temporary workforce needs through staffing agencies, ensuring appropriate coverage for production and other departments.
  • Conduct reference checks and pre-employment screenings to support sound hiring decisions and maintain compliance.
  • Serve as the primary employee relations liaison between leadership and employees, addressing concerns, resolving issues, and fostering a respectful workplace.
  • Maintain HRIS records, employee files, and HR reporting to ensure accurate and up-to-date information and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, county, and local employment laws and regulations, with particular emphasis on California requirements.
  • Support managers with policy interpretation, performance management, and employee counseling to promote consistent and fair practices.
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollment, changes, billing, and ongoing employee support and education.
  • Manage leaves of absence, including FMLA and CFRA, and oversee workers' compensation administration in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare OSHA logs and assist with safety and regulatory compliance reporting as required.
  • Provide executive administrative support to leadership as needed, particularly in HR-related initiatives and planning.
  • Conduct regular facility safety inspections to identify hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Identify workplace safety and environmental risks and recommend corrective actions or process improvements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures aligned with applicable regulations and industry standards.
  • Coordinate safety and emergency preparedness training for employees, including drills and ongoing awareness programs.
  • Monitor compliance with safety standards and regulations, following up on incidents and corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver employee training and development programs to support skill growth, performance, and career progression.
  • Partner with leadership on employee growth initiatives, including succession planning, coaching, and development pathways.
  • Coach managers and supervisors on performance management, feedback, and employee development best practices.
  • Promote and model the company’s culture and values, reinforcing a positive, collaborative, and respectful work environment.
  • Maintain a positive, approachable HR presence across the organization, building trust and strong relationships at all levels.
  • Oversee Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives, including coordination with quality audits and related activities.
  • Operate as a one-person HR department, managing all HR functions outside of payroll and flexibly supporting initiatives beyond the traditional HR scope.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives and provide strategic HR guidance.
