About The Position

The Human Resources Intern through TFI International supports the daily operations of the Human Resources team by providing administrative, compliance, and coordination support across core HR functions. This role contributes to accurate records management, efficient onboarding and offboarding processes, and compliance with employment regulations and internal policies. The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, responsive, and comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This is a 2026 internship running from June through December (approximately 28-30 weeks). The expected start date is flexible depending on academic schedules. Some flexibility in start and end dates may be accommodated. There is a possibility of extension as well.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, and at least one (1) year of human resources experience. An equivalent combination may be considered.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and labor relations principles
  • General knowledge of HR practices including HRIS administration, Form I-9 compliance, recruitment support, onboarding, unemployment administration, and labor relations
  • Ability to establish credibility and trust with employees and leaders across all levels and remote locations
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally
  • Ability to connect human resources activities to broader business goals and outcomes
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite

Nice To Haves

  • An associate’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field, and at least three (3) years of experience in a human resources support role. An equivalent combination may be considered.
  • SHRM-CP or similar human resources certification
  • Experience working in the transportation or logistics industry

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate digital and physical employee records including contracts, leave documentation, and personal data
  • Coordinate new hire processing including background checks, system access, orientation, and separation documentation
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with federal and state labor laws and internal human resources policies
  • Support recruiting efforts by posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and communicating with candidates
  • Stay current on human resources best practices through training, professional development activities, and certification opportunities
