About The Position

The Human Resources Intern provides a diverse range of benefits, recruiting, and training support for approximately 125 employees and 400 seasonal/variable staff. This role involves creating and submitting job requisitions, posting open positions, preparing offer letters, initiating onboarding and background checks, and assisting with new hire orientations, staff trainings, and policy development. The intern will also support benefit plan renewals and Open Enrollment, make recommendations and updates to the staff intranet, research and analyze best practices in Human Resources, and develop new programs to meet departmental objectives. Administrative support to the Human Resources team is also expected, along with other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Ability and have the integrity to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent work ethic, positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organizational, customer service, research and project management skills
  • Undergraduate students (must have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate study)
  • Graduate students
  • Recent graduates (up to 2 years out of school)
  • Career-changers currently enrolled in a degree program
  • International students (J-1 or F-1 Visa required)
  • Must be physically located in and have a local address in Virginia, Maryland, or the District of Columbia for the duration of their employment

Responsibilities
