About The Position

We are a 90-person auto insurance carrier located in Plantation, Florida, with $80 million in annual revenue. We are seeking an HR Manager to lead our HR department. This role involves managing one HR Generalist and a contract recruiter, reporting directly to the COO. The HR Manager will be responsible for ensuring employees are hired well, treated fairly, developed thoughtfully, and understand HR policies. This is a hands-on role focused on building and improving HR functions.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.
5-7 years of progressive HR experience.
At least 2 years of experience leading people.
Solid knowledge of employment law, particularly in Florida.
Experience in HRIS systems, payroll software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to juggle competing priorities.
Dedication to merit-based performance management.
Strong communication skills.
Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Must be present and available for the role.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree or HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR).
Experience in insurance or a regulated industry.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement HR strategies for workforce planning, engagement, and retention.
Manage employee relations, conflict resolution, and conduct sensitive conversations.
Oversee recruiting processes including job postings, sourcing, interviews, and onboarding.
Ensure compliance with federal and Florida employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC).
Maintain accurate HR records.
Administer benefits (health, dental, vision, retirement, wellness) and ensure competitive compensation.
Drive performance management and design employee development programs.
Build and maintain HR policies and the employee handbook.
Mentor and support the HR Generalist and contract recruiter.
