About The Position

We’re looking for an experienced and thoughtful HR Manager to serve as the operational backbone of our People Operations team. This role is essential in ensuring that CAC’s people systems run smoothly, compliantly, and in alignment with our values. As an individual contributor reporting to the Director of People Operations, you will own and execute key HR functions across the full employee lifecycle. You will help run recruiting operations and onboarding to benefits administration, HRIS management, and employee relations support. You’ll partner closely with leadership and managers to bring consistency, clarity, and care to how we support our people. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys both the structure and nuance of HR. We’re looking for someone who can balance compliance and process with empathy, curiosity, and a service-oriented mindset.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Manager capacity
  • Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end HR functions (benefits, recruiting, onboarding, compliance, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS systems (Rippling, ADP Workforce Now, TriNet, or similar)
  • Experience administering benefits beyond open enrollment (vendor management, plan evaluation, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of HR compliance and employment law (multi-state experience preferred)
  • Experience supporting employee relations and acting as a first line of support for managers
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Ability to maintain a stationary position at a desk/workstation for extended periods, using a computer, and performing repetitive arm/hand motions such as typing and operating a mouse.
  • Ability to view computer monitors and read digital text/data
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in verbal conversations, including comprehending spoken words and participating in discussions.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry approximately 15 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification
  • Experience working in a small or growing organization
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or mission-driven environments
  • Experience supporting payroll processes in partnership with Finance
  • Experience with JazzHR or similar ATS platforms

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary owner of CAC’s core HR operations, ensuring systems and processes run reliably and consistently
  • Administer compensation and role grading processes, including maintaining job descriptions, managing benchmarking systems, supporting annual compensation reviews, coordinating approval workflows, and drafting salary offers in alignment with internal compensation guidelines
  • Lead recruiting operations, including ATS (JazzHR) management, intake support, and maintaining a high-quality candidate experience
  • Partner with hiring managers throughout the interview process, providing structure, guidance, and HR perspective
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring smooth, thoughtful transitions across the employee lifecycle
  • Administer benefits programs, including open enrollment, vendor coordination, and employee support
  • Manage leave processes (FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Compensation), ensuring compliance and clear communication
  • Support HRIS (Rippling) workflows, maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee data
  • Maintain personnel records and ensure proper documentation and coordination with Finance
  • Support performance review cycles, identifying trends and helping improve consistency and follow-through
  • Assist with engagement surveys and reporting, surfacing insights and opportunities for improvement
  • Serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day employee relations questions, escalating complex matters as needed
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state employment laws and internal policies, identifying risks and recommending improvements
  • Maintain and update HR policies and procedures in alignment with evolving regulations and CAC values
  • Support planning and execution of team gatherings, retreats, and all-staff meetings
  • Model and uphold CAC’s Community Engagement Agreements in all interactions
