About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist provides administrative and operational support for all Human Resources functions and serves as a key point of contact for the HR office. This position plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of the department while maintaining a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, customer service, and teamwork. The Human Resources Generalist will also serve as backup support for positions within the Human Resources Department as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Responding to employment verification and reference check requests for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assisting with posting open positions on the College website and with external recruiting vendors.
  • Supporting recruiting efforts during peak hiring periods, including conducting phone interviews for select positions.
  • Assisting with new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
  • Providing data entry and administrative support for various HR functions across the department.
  • Tracking departmental purchase orders, ordering office and HR supplies, and processing invoices for approval.
  • Distributing electronic surveys for current and exiting employees, including engagement and exit surveys.
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of departmental and campus events.
  • Supporting document preparation, electronic and paper filing, records management scanning, mailings, copying, faxing, and other administrative support duties.
  • Assisting with departmental record retention requirements.
  • Assisting with payroll-related functions, including data entry for employee and student worker payrolls.
  • Processing payrolls as backup support when necessary.
  • Partnering with the HR Team to identify opportunities to improve departmental efficiency through technology and process improvements.
  • Special projects and other duties may be assigned to support the operational and strategic needs of the department and institution.
