About The Position

Work under the general direction of a human resources (HR) manager to support HR programs and policies. Administer activities related to, but not limited to, recruiting and staffing, compensation and benefits, training and development, employee relations, affirmative action/equal employment opportunity compliance, and possibly safety or other related areas. Complete personnel transactions and maintain associated records. Develop and maintain effective working relationships and provide excellent customer service when addressing employee and leadership team questions and inquiries. Handle moderately complex issues and problems and refer more complex issues to HR manager.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 2 to 5 years of progressive generalist Human Resources experience
  • Experience with HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources principles, concepts, and practices
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with federal, state, and local HR and payroll requirements
  • Able to interpret and apply company policies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems
  • Able to interact positively and work effectively with others (interpersonal skills)
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Able to handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Able to multi-task and problem solve
  • Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Able to work a schedule that (may) support a 24/7 operations team
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

  • Human Resources certifications preferred (e.g., SHRM, HRCI)

Responsibilities

  • Administer the recruitment process for non-exempt and/or exempt positions, including coordinating requisitions, job postings, applicant correspondence, interview schedules, job descriptions, references, offer letters, drug screens, background checks, and new employee set-up and onboarding.
  • Work with hiring managers to recruit and select candidates, review resumes, design interview questions, conduct phone screens, and assist with interviews.
  • Manage the onboarding process to ensure new employees have an excellent experience and are set up for success.
  • Process payroll for employees, understanding and applying wage and labor laws, and maintaining payroll records.
  • Provide administrative support for employee records and process employee status change transactions.
  • Assist in preparing EEO/AAP reporting documents and generate HR reports.
  • Ensure employees receive information on benefits enrollment, assist with wellness initiatives, and respond to benefits-related inquiries.
  • Administer paperwork and coordinate FMLA and STD programs.
  • Work with employees on LOA processes and procedures, manage employee leaves, and communicate leave of absence status to leadership.
  • Coordinate employee communication regarding human resources programs and announcements.
  • Ensure corporate initiatives reach the location and coordinate with leadership for implementation.
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees regarding HR policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Perform learning management system (DairyU) administration, including HRIS data uploads, record keeping, training attendance, and report generation.
  • Process HR-related invoices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive HR information.
  • Participate in special projects in areas such as performance management, onboarding, compensation, and training.
  • Conduct research on HR best practices and assist in process development and implementation.
